She wanted to be a jockey…

Growing up in the Midwest, Anna embraced a variety of cultural interests as a child. She explored nature, reading, writing, and drawing, mostly about horses or animals in general. By all accounts, she has been fascinated with horses since her beginnings. While she was raised in the city, her heart belonged in the country, where the horses and wild things lived.

Anna comes from a long line of artists, craftsmen, writers, and musicians, but she thought maybe she’d be a jockey when she grew up. Art was her second choice. As it turned out, being a jockey never materialized, although she rode every chance she got. Attending high school in the North, her experience with various art courses allowed her an exploration of the arts that she took full advantage of and has continued throughout her life.

Later residing in the South, after years of being involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats, it was a natural step for Anna to extend this work to horses. After adopting a horse of her own, at long last, she was motivated to return to drawing these beloved creatures.

Now living in the East, Anna is mom to a host of pets,- including horses, and enjoys a career painting animal portraits. She well understands the depth of the unique bonds humans share with the animals in their lives and works to truthfully capture the individual personality of each animal she paints.  From horses to budgies, she has painted thousands of beloved pets and creatures, great and small.

Anna has extensive experience as a commissioned painter, from her pet portraits to full-sized murals for businesses and in homes. Her artwork has been published online and in print, and her portraits hang in private collections nationally and internationally.
